Aug 08, 2026 - Aug 09, 2026
We are planning an outward facing event dealing with a food collection drive in the US on Saturday, August 8. All food collections have been approved by Kroger and Busch's. We only need volunteers to make this visit by our RI Director a success. Marty's aides will be escorting her around to several food collection sites in Washtenaw, Livingston, and Oakland Counties. The purpose is to meet the Rotarians collecting the non-perishables and also mingle with the community members donating it. These donations will be taken by other Rotary volunteers to local food pantries they use. For example, Pinckney will be collecting for Farley Hill Food Bank in Pinckney, Hospitality House is another pantry used by West Bloomfield.
RI Marty Helman will arrive in Fowlerville at the Torch 180 for lunch. This is the site of our newest club in District 6380; Livingston Golden Hearts Rotaractors. There she will see how these developmentally challenged adults are receiving culinary training which prepares them for the workforce beyond. The Torch also has a retail store nearby where Marty will visit after lunch. Besides being an outward facing event, RI Marty will speak to the excitement of having this new club involved in Rotary.
From lunch Mart's aides will whisk her into Oakland County to visit a couple more food collection sites. By 3:00 pm, Marty will be dropped off at her hotel for a little R & R. Finally, her evening will be spent at Bakers in Milford. Everyone in 6380 will be invited to attend an Inward Facing Event where Director Marty will speak after a buffet. So ends RI Director Marty Helman's day in the US Side of District 6380.
On Sunday, August 9, 2026, Marty's Impact Tour will continue in Chatham- Kent with both inward and outward events. At the conclusion of Marty's visit to our Chatham - Kent clubs, we will be delivering our guest to PDG Bala and DGND Roma Murthy in Troy. They have volunteered to be Marty's aide overnight Sunday and deliver her to DTW on Monday for her flight back to Maine.
